Israel announced its first strikes on Iran's oil infrastructure
The Israeli military reported the first air strikes on Iran's oil infrastructure. According to a representative of the Israel Defence Forces, at least 30 oil tanks were attacked in the Iranian capital Tehran.
An anonymous representative of the Iranian Ministry of Oil confirmed to the Fars news agency that the attacks took place at three oil storage facilities in Tehran and the neighbouring city of Karaj. The IRNA news agency specified that two of these facilities are located near a large oil refinery in southern Tehran, which was not damaged.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that in response, a missile strike was launched on an oil refinery in the Israeli city of Haifa. The Israeli side did not confirm this information.
On the evening of 7 March, the Israel Defence Forces reported that over 300 strikes had been carried out on targets in Iran over the previous 48 hours. More than 170 strikes were also directed at Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. Among the targets hit were missile storage sites and launchers.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that the strike on the oil refinery in Haifa was part of a 27th wave of attacks on Israeli and American facilities. According to their information, the targets also included the American military headquarters in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and US warehouses in the port of Salman in Bahrain.
On 7 March, US President Donald Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social that Iran would be "hit hard" that day.
"Due to Iran's bad behaviour, the complete destruction and inevitable death of areas and groups of people not previously considered targets is being seriously considered," he wrote.
Donald Trump also said that Iran is no longer the "main bully in the Middle East" but has become the "main loser" in the region.
On 6 March, the US Navy announced preparations to send a third aircraft carrier, the USS George Bush, to the Middle East.
The United States and Israel have been carrying out air strikes on Iranian territory since 28 February. According to reports, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and other members of the Iranian leadership were killed in these attacks.
In response, Iran is striking Israel, some Persian Gulf countries and American targets in the region.
On 6 March, Donald Trump called on Tehran to "unconditionally surrender." Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that the country would not surrender to Israel and the United States.
He also apologised to neighbouring countries that had been attacked by Iran and promised that the attacks would not be repeated if those countries did not attack Iran.
