Euro has exceeded 48.5 hryvnias for the first time in history
This is reported on the NBU website. It is noted that this is the first time the European currency has officially crossed the psychological mark of 48.5 hryvnias. Compared to the previous day, the euro has gained almost 50 kopecks, indicating a noticeable increase against the backdrop of global currency fluctuations. This is already the second record update in the last two days: the previous maximum was recorded on June 23 at the level of 48.2006 UAH/EUR.
At the same time, the hryvnia unexpectedly strengthened against the US dollar. The official rate as of June 25 is 41.7924 UAH/$, which is 8 kopecks lower than the day before. However, this movement proved insignificant against the backdrop of the euro's strong strengthening in international markets.
Analysts explain the situation by the euro's strengthening against the dollar worldwide. This led to an automatic increase in its value on the Ukrainian currency market, despite the positive dynamics of the hryvnia itself.
Financiers warn that if the euro's growth trend continues, it could impact import prices, and consequently — inflation in Ukraine.
