In the selected communities, experts will conduct a detailed analysis of the operation of wastewater systems across several key areas:
-
Wastewater treatment: checking the effectiveness of existing processes;
-
Energy efficiency: assessment of energy consumption and identification of ways to reduce it;
-
Sludge management: analysis of methods for handling treatment residues;
-
Infrastructure condition: overall assessment of the wear and tear of networks and equipment.
Roadmaps for European integration
According to Kostyantyn Kovalchuk, Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development, the audit results will provide communities with clear modernisation plans. These towns are set to become examples of the successful implementation of European practices, which will subsequently be scaled up across the whole country.
The project is being implemented with the support of the relevant ministry in collaboration with international partners, notably the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO).
