Kyiv Metro has closed its last ticket offices: how to pay for your journey now
The Kyiv Metro is switching to cashless fare payment without ticket clerks
The Kyiv Metro has fully switched to a cashless fare payment system at ticket offices: the last ticket offices at the “Vokzalna”, “Pochaina” and “Vydubychi” stations ceased operations on 28 April 2026. Passengers can pay for their journey by card, smartphone, via “Kyiv Digital” or at self-service terminals.

This has been announced by the metro.

The last ticket offices in the Kyiv Metro, where passengers could buy or top up their travel cards via a ticket clerk, have been closed.

The last three ticket offices were located at the “Vokzalna”, “Pochaina” and “Vydubychi” stations.

They ceased operations on 28 April 2026. These stations were the last of the 52 metro stations where ticket offices were still in operation, largely due to high passenger numbers and the large number of people travelling to Kyiv from other cities.

Following this, the Kyiv Metro has effectively completed its transition to digital and contactless payment.

There are no longer any ticket clerks in the underground.

There are now several ways to pay for your journey.

Passengers can use the “Kyiv Digital” app.

You can also pay for your journey by bank card directly at the turnstile.

Payment via Google Pay or Apple Pay is available – using a smartphone or smartwatch.

Cash hasn’t completely disappeared from the payment process, but cashiers no longer accept it.

Technically, you can pay for your journey in cash via special “Kyiv Digital” terminals in station concourses. In other words, the money is accepted by the self-service terminal, not by a ticket office staff member.

Announcements at stations also stated that transport cards can be purchased and topped up via the “Kyiv Digital” mobile app and through self-service kiosks.

In practice, this means that passengers need to plan their payments without relying on the ticket office.

The simplest options are using a bank card at the turnstile or digital payment via a mobile phone.

For those who use cash, the self-service terminal remains an option.

The closure of ticket offices does not affect the ability to use the metro itself, but it does change the way journeys are purchased.

Passengers who are used to buying tickets from a ticket clerk will now have to switch to a card, mobile payment or the terminals.
