Rail transport in Ukraine is switching to a new pricing model for the premium segment. The relevant order has undergone public consultation and is coming into force

This was announced by the press office of Ukrzaliznytsia.

Which carriages will be affected by the changes

The new dynamic pricing system will apply exclusively to the premium segment on domestic routes:

  • SV (luxury) carriages;

  • 1st class on Intercity trains.

It is important to note that fares for 2nd class, compartment and open-plan carriages remain unchanged. The state is keeping them socially oriented to ensure the accessibility of transport, particularly to frontline regions.

4 factors that will influence the price

Ticket sales under the new pricing structure will begin on 25 April. The cost will depend on the following factors:

  1. Seasonality: 16 periods are being introduced. During peak months (e.g. August), prices will be higher; during periods of low occupancy, they will be lower.

  2. Day of the week: the cheapest tickets will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the most expensive on Fridays and Sundays.

  3. Advance booking: planning your journey in advance will allow you to buy a ticket at a better price.

  4. Occupancy: if the train is almost full, the price will rise. If there are still seats available before departure, discounts will apply.

International services and SV

Fares for SV (luxury) carriages on international trains have also been adjusted — by approximately 20%. The new prices for this segment apply to departure dates from 18 April 2026 onwards.

At the same time, Ukrzaliznytsia has decided to leave the cost of Intercity 1st and 2nd class compartments on international routes unchanged, so that Ukrainians can visit their homes more often.
