Macron stated that there is no prospect of a quick peace in Ukraine

Macron made the statement on 24 February during a meeting of the "coalition of the determined," addressing participants online.
The French president noted that he supports peaceful initiatives to resolve the war, but expressed scepticism about the prospects for a quick result.
"I am, to put it mildly, very sceptical that we will be able to achieve peace in the short term. I mean, I think it's good to continue this initiative, but let's be realistic. There is no desire for peace on the Russian side," said Emmanuel Macron.
He also stressed the need to continue supporting Ukraine in the context of the war.
In addition, Macron stated the importance of continuing sanctions pressure on Russia, in particular with regard to its so-called "shadow fleet," in order to weaken its economic capabilities.
Separately, the French president noted that the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine is currently being worked on and must be agreed upon within a specific time frame.
