Forced mobilisation in the Russian Federation
A new wave of forced conscription of men into the army has begun in Russia. Those most easily intimidated and deprived of a choice have been targeted.

This has been reported by the ‘Atesh’ guerrilla movement.

Who is being forced to join the army

According to the movement’s agents, the Kremlin has issued a strict directive to the regions regarding the recruitment of contract soldiers. Local authorities that fail to meet the set targets have stepped up the activities of military registration and enlistment offices and the security forces.

Those targeted include:

  • men with large debts who are on bailiff registers;
  • former prisoners currently under administrative supervision.

How the pressure is being applied

‘ATESH’ claims that such people are being detained en masse and forced to sign contracts with the Russian Armed Forces.

According to the movement, threats to open new criminal cases and other methods of pressure are being used to this end.

Why recruitment has intensified

Sources within the intelligence network link this wave to the Russian army’s heavy losses on the front line and a shortage of personnel.

According to the movement, the current rate of recruitment of contract soldiers is no longer sufficient to cover the losses suffered by the Russian Armed Forces.

What “ATESH” advises

“If they are trying to drag you into the army in this way – do not sign anything under threat and leave the country at the first opportunity,” said “ATESH”.

Forced mobilisation in Russia

Reports of street round-ups and forced mobilisation in Russia appear regularly – despite the Kremlin’s official denials.

Residents of Russian cities have repeatedly complained about men being detained near metro stations, shopping centres and bus stops. Due to the mass raids, residents of Penza and Serdobsk have set up a Telegram channel to track the round-ups.

In response, the local police issued a ‘warning’ to anyone filming the raids on video.

Subsequently, the military commissar of one of Russia’s regions publicly acknowledged the round-ups of conscripts.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia is preparing a further mobilisation to make up for the army’s losses at the front.
