There are still over 10,000 places available in Kyiv’s nurseries for next year
Enrolment of children into pre-school education centres in the capital for the 2026/2027 academic year is currently underway. You can enrol your child in a nursery online; there are still over 10,000 places available.

This was announced by the Department of Education and Science of the Kyiv City State Administration.

Kindergarten operations in June

As of early June 2026, there are 525 municipal nurseries and pre-school units attached to schools operating in Kyiv.

This accounts for 91 per cent of their total number. More than 62,000 children aged between 1 and 6 are being cared for and receiving educational, psychological and remedial support at these institutions.

Enrolment details

From 1 April 2026, enrolment of children in municipal nurseries takes place via the ‘SEZ ZDO’ electronic enrolment system.

Key principles of enrolment:

  • The system sends automatic invitations to the pre-school education centre.
  • Priority is given to children who are registered in Kyiv and have chosen a nursery assigned to their area of registration.
  • Children belonging to priority groups, as defined by law, are also entitled to priority enrolment.

There are 10,900 places available for the new 2026/2027 academic year. Enrolment for nursery schools is currently underway.

The Department emphasises that although pre-school education is free, parents must pay for their children’s meals, the cost of which is set by the district state administrations.
