Maternova congratulated the Rada on the laws promoting European integration and the Ukraine Facility
Katarina Maternová stated that she welcomes the positive outcome of the vote in the Verkhovna Rada on laws crucial to Ukraine’s European integration. She specifically emphasised that the laws on the digitalisation of court enforcement procedures and on the integration of Ukraine’s and Europe’s electricity markets pave the way for significant funding through the Ukraine Facility programme.
On 7 April, parliament adopted in its second reading and as a whole draft law No. 14005 on the digitisation of procedures for the enforcement of court decisions. In government documents and relevant reports, this document is cited as one of the indicators under the Ukraine Facility programme.
On Tuesday, the Verkhovna Rada also passed Bill No. 12087-d on the integration of Ukraine’s and the European Union’s electricity markets. Parliament stated that the document establishes the legal framework for integrating the Ukrainian electricity market into the EU’s internal energy market.
Separately, the Rada adopted Law No. 12221, which is referred to in public communications as the law on “industrial visa-free travel” with the EU. According to the parliament, it concerns the harmonisation of the accreditation of conformity assessment bodies and Ukraine’s further integration into the EU’s internal market.
In addition, parliament supported in principle draft law No. 14412 “On the Principles of the Delimitation and Distribution of Powers between Levels of Public Administration”. This is a European integration document intended to define the legal basis for the delimitation of powers between different levels of government based on the principles of subsidiarity and decentralisation.
It should be recalled that the European Union declared attacks on civilian infrastructure to be unacceptable following threats by US President Donald Trump to strike Iran’s energy facilities. Brussels emphasised the need for a diplomatic settlement.
