Lutsk Mayor Polischuk has resigned ahead of schedule: what happened
Ihor Polishchuk
Ihor Polishchuk, the mayor of Lutsk, has resigned ahead of schedule. The decision was supported by members of the Lutsk City Council.

This was reported by ‘Suspilne Lutsk’.

“This resignation is in no way connected with either the NABU or the audit. I do not consider it necessary to go into detail about the circumstances that prompted me to write such a statement,” commented Polischuk.

He also added that he is currently unaware of any criminal case in which he is implicated.

In December 2025, NABU carried out searches at Polischuk’s workplace and in the office of Volyn Regional Council Chairman Hryhoriy Nedopad, reported “Suspilne”. The officials confirmed the searches but did not disclose the reason.

Following this, NABU published information stating that a member of the Volyn Regional Council, a member of the Lutsk City Council and a former MP were suspected of accepting bribes. “Suspilne” reported that the individuals in question were Anatoliy Vitiv and Mykola Fedik. They were suspected of demanding a bribe of $30,000, in return for which the Volyn Regional Council and the Lutsk City Council were to approve the construction of a multi-apartment residential complex. Subsequently, the regional council passed the necessary resolution.

On 23 March 2026, two draft resolutions on the early resignation of Polischuk and his secretary Yuriy Bezpyatko appeared on the Lutsk City Council website.
