Millions for farmers: how the state will support farmers during the spring farming season
The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyrydenko, announced the expansion of financial aid and the start of the sowing season.
The financial support has come at just the right time, as the sowing campaign has already begun in 17 regions of Ukraine. For many farmers, these funds will provide an opportunity to get out into the fields on time, carry out the necessary work and maintain production levels. Importantly, land that has undergone humanitarian demining is also returning to cultivation this year. Over 15,000 hectares in the Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Kyiv regions are already ready for sowing thanks to the joint efforts of deminers and farmers.
In total, 220 million hryvnias from a special fund have been allocated for the farm lending programme in 2026. This will not only enable the funding of last year’s competition winners but also expand support in other areas. The government continues to develop other support instruments, including grants for establishing orchards and greenhouses, compensation for the purchase of domestic machinery, and irrigation development programmes.
Particular attention is being paid to agricultural insurance and assistance for farms operating in frontline regions. State support remains the cornerstone of food security, helping farmers adapt to difficult conditions and provide the country with essential foodstuffs even during wartime.
