Moldova blocked $107 million in cryptocurrencies intended for pro-Russian forces
Moldovan law enforcement agencies have blocked crypto wallets containing $107 million in assets — funds that, according to Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, were intended to finance pro-Russian parties, protests, and political influence networks. This was reported by The Public with reference to the state television channel Moldova 1.
Popșoi emphasized that for a small country, such money is a “real tsunami”: its free use could destroy political and economic stability.
According to him, this operation is only part of a broader campaign of interference conducted by Muscovy through “flexible” cryptocurrency schemes, manipulation, influence buying, and the organization of protests.
The Moldovan authorities have already strengthened the protection of the information space and electoral infrastructure, working together with partners from the US, the EU, and Romania, preventing possible sabotage on election day.
