The Security Service of Ukraine detained a former deputy from the banned OPZZh party in Luhansk Oblast in the Kyiv region. He is suspected of aiding an aggressor state.

The detention took place at the suspect's office near Kyiv.

According to the investigation, the former representative of the pro-Russian political force is the owner of an industrial complex in the temporarily occupied part of eastern Ukraine.

In 2022, he re-registered the enterprise in accordance with Russian legislation.

The investigation established that the suspect also ignored the ban on business activities with Russia and purchased equipment for his production from the aggressor state.

According to the criminal case file, after the start of the full-scale war, he purchased technological equipment worth more than one million euros from a Russian company in Naberezhnye Chelny.

To conceal trade relations with Russia, an affiliated company from Belarus was listed as the customer for the goods.

In this way, Russian-made equipment was delivered to the suspect's enterprise, and the funds for it were transferred to Russia.

Taxes and other payments from this transaction went to the budget of the Russian Federation.

During a search of the detainee's office, law enforcement officers seized smartphones, computer equipment, seals and documents which, according to the investigation, confirm the deal.

Investigators from the Security Service informed the man that he was suspected of violating Part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This refers to aiding an aggressor state.

The suspect is in custody. The article provides for up to 12 years' imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Operational measures were carried out by employees of the Security Service of Ukraine in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as in Dnipropetrovsk region, under the procedural guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk regional prosecutor's office.
