A major prisoner exchange with Russia could take place at Easter – Budanov
He made these remarks during a speech marking the fourth anniversary of the establishment of the Coordination Headquarters for Prisoners of War.
“Our joint work continues every day. Negotiations are ongoing, and there will be further exchanges. I very much hope that by Easter we will all see a major exchange, and we will do everything necessary to make this happen,” he said.
In total, over the four years of the Coordination Headquarters’ work, more than 70 exchanges have taken place – over 8,500 Ukrainian soldiers have returned home.
According to Budanov, the President personally oversees every exchange. International partners, in particular the United States of America and the United Arab Emirates, provide systematic assistance through diplomacy, mediation and pressure. Without them, carrying out exchanges would be more difficult, and sometimes simply impossible. Ukraine is counting on this support in the future.
