German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephull called on Hungary to reconsider its decision to block the European Union's new package of sanctions against Russia. This issue is planned to be discussed during meetings in Brussels and at the bilateral level.

This was reported by The Public with reference to Reuters.

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephull said that European Union foreign ministers will call on Hungary to reconsider its position on blocking the next package of sanctions against Russia.

According to him, EU countries intend to present their arguments to the Hungarian side again, both in Brussels and during contacts in Budapest, in order to convince it to change its decision.

Vadeful also said that he does not consider it right for Hungary to "betray its own struggle for freedom and European sovereignty" by blocking sanctions against Russia.

He made the statement to journalists in Brussels before the start of a meeting of European Union foreign ministers.
