Ukraine is expecting representatives of US President Donald Trump to visit Kyiv in late spring or early summer.

This was announced by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

He noted that Ukraine and the US are already coordinating the schedule for the necessary visits. Zelenskyy expressed hope that this time it will be possible to implement the plans and step up diplomatic efforts.

National Security and Defence Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, who arrived in the US yesterday, reported to the President that the talks with the Americans had been substantive. The parties discussed security agreements and humanitarian issues, in particular the continuation of prisoner exchanges.

“It is important that there is a constructive approach, and we need to move towards peace by strengthening Ukraine and bilateral relations with America,” Zelenskyy added.

Ukraine invited US President’s representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Kyiv back in April. But they have not visited since then, despite having travelled to Moscow on several occasions. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described this as a sign of disrespect.

The Kyiv Independent, citing its own sources, reported that Witkoff and Kushner are in no hurry to travel to Kyiv because Washington fears that new talks will not yield results.
