Oktoberfest 2025: 6.5 million guests and the same number of liters of beer
According to available estimates, approximately 6.5 million visitors attended the festival over 16 days, reports ThePublic.info, citing Deutsche Welle.
This is slightly less than last year, when 6.7 million people attended the traditional event location. The organizers attribute the decrease in visitors primarily to the forced temporary closure of Oktoberfest on October 1 due to a bomb threat. At that time, entry to the festival remained closed for over seven hours.
It is noteworthy that October 3 became the "day with the highest number of visitors," despite entry being blocked due to overcrowding threats, explained festival director Christian Scharpf. According to him, on a regular weekday, Oktoberfest was attended by 200-250 thousand guests. About 21 percent of visitors were international guests—mainly from the USA, Italy, the UK, Austria, Poland, Spain, France, Sweden, and India.
Guests lost 10 percent more belongings than in 2024.
Among the approximately 4,500 found items—which is about 10 percent more than last year—there were 1,100 pieces of clothing, 800 wallets, 600 IDs, 400 smartphones, 370 keys, 280 glasses, 150 bags, backpacks, and sacks, and 40 hats and watches. About 900 of the found items were returned to their owners during the festival itself.
At the same time, guests left less trash compared to the 2024 festival. Munich's waste disposal company had processed a total of 764 tons of waste by October 3, which is approximately 12.4 percent less than during the same period last year.
The 190th Beer Oktoberfest—the most visited folk festival in the world—was opened on September 20, 2025, at Theresienwiese in Munich, the capital of Bavaria. Fourteen large festival tents were set up there, along with numerous smaller pavilions and stalls, as well as nearly 150 various attractions.
