On 21 June, there will be changes to the metro and public transport services in Kyiv
This has been reported by TSN, citing the Kyiv City State Administration.
From the start of train services, the ‘Ploshcha Ukrayins’kykh Heroiv’ and ‘Palats Sportu’ metro stations will be temporarily closed to passengers. The interchange between them will also be out of service. Metro trains will pass through these stations without stopping. The Kyiv City State Administration has stated that further notice will be given regarding the resumption of normal service.
Which transport services will have their routes changed
In addition to the metro, temporary changes will affect some surface transport services. From the start of service and until approximately 14:00, the following will operate on amended routes:
- trolleybuses Nos. 4, 5, 7, 8 and 17;
- buses Nos. 24, 62, 109, 110, 111, 114 and 118-D.
The Department of Transport Infrastructure has urged passengers to take these changes into account and plan their journeys in advance.
What is known about the Equality March in Kyiv
The traffic restrictions are due to the Equality March. In 2025, over 1,500 people took part in the event, including representatives of the LGBTIQ+ community, the military, civil society organisations and diplomatic missions from various countries. In 2024, due to the security situation, the number of participants was limited — around 500 people took part in the march. In 2022–2023, the Equality March in Kyiv was not held due to the full-scale war. Ukrainian contingents took part in Pride events in other countries, notably in cities across Europe and North America. Prior to the start of the full-scale invasion, the largest marches took place between 2018 and 2021. In particular, in 2021, the event attracted over 7,000 participants. The first Equality March in Kyiv took place in 2015. Prior to that, the organisers had been trying to hold the event for several years, but it was cancelled due to threats and security concerns.
