In Poland, a woman attacked a 14-year-old boy because of the Ukrainian language
This has been reported by the Polish website Trojmiasto.pl.
The incident took place on the evening of 14 June at a children’s playground in a park on St Barbara Street in Gdańsk. According to the boy’s family, the teenager was spending time with friends and speaking Ukrainian. At that moment, an unknown woman approached him and began demanding that he stop speaking Ukrainian. When the boy did not respond to her words, the woman became aggressive.
What happened in the Gdańsk park
According to the family’s lawyer, the attacker struck the teenager several times on the head and ears, and also used foul language. She then allegedly knocked the boy to the ground and continued to kick him. Another woman, who had witnessed the incident nearby and intervened, managed to stop the attack. The attacker then fled.
The boy was taken to hospital
Following the assault, the 14-year-old Ukrainian boy suffered severe headaches, dizziness and vomiting. He was taken to hospital in Gdańsk. Doctors diagnosed a head injury; the boy required further examination and observation. The family’s lawyer stated that the attack may have been xenophobic in nature, as prior to the assault the woman had made complaints specifically regarding the use of the Ukrainian language.
Police are searching for the attacker
Law enforcement officers have already obtained CCTV footage and are working to identify the woman. According to witnesses, the attacker is approximately 30–35 years old. She has shoulder-length fair hair and was wearing black clothing at the time of the incident. The police have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the attack near the school on Sviatoi Varvary Street on the evening of 14 June to come forward with information to the investigators.
