Ukrainians who have given birth to a child can receive a one-off ‘Baby Box’ package or its cash equivalent at the maternity hospital. The Main Office of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Donetsk region has explained the conditions under which such compensation can be claimed in 2026.

The Pension Fund has explained that financial compensation is granted in cases where the one-off ‘Baby Box’ benefit has not been received.

This payment can be received provided that the application for compensation is submitted no later than 12 months after the child’s date of birth.

“You can apply for the payment if your child is under one year old,” the statement reads.

Therefore, you can apply for compensation even if the child was born in 2025, provided that one year has not yet passed since their birth.

The article also noted that in 2024, the contents of the ‘Baby Box’ in Ukraine were revised to take into account parents’ wishes and expert opinions.

The Ministry of Social Policy, taking into account the results of these consultations, is conducting further negotiations with manufacturers and suppliers.

Furthermore, in Ukraine, from 1 January 2026, the amount of the one-off childbirth grant has increased to 50,000 UAH.

As a reminder, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law increasing the one-off childbirth grant to 50,000 UAH. The new payments will come into effect from 1 January 2026.
