Weekly weather forecast for Ukraine: when to expect rain, wind and a drop in temperatures
The new week in Ukraine begins under the influence of a high-pressure system over Eastern Europe. This system will bring mostly clear skies with little to no significant rainfall during the first few days. However, towards the end of the week, atmospheric conditions will begin to shift towards a low-pressure system, resulting in significantly more rainfall and more variable temperatures across the country.
The forecaster predicts that by the end of the week, the western part of Ukraine will experience a noticeable drop in temperature. Heavy rain is expected there, with sleet in places. Meanwhile, the highest temperatures are forecast for the southern and eastern regions.
On Monday, 23 March, stable, dry weather will persist across all regions of the country. Fog is possible on the Right Bank at night and in the morning. Winds are expected to be easterly and south-easterly, 5–10 m/s, and in Zakarpattia – variable, 2–7 m/s. Overnight, temperatures will range from -3 to +2 °C, and in Zakarpattia and the south from +1 to +6 °C. During the day, temperatures will rise to +8 to +13 °C.
On Tuesday, 24 March, rain is expected overnight in Crimea and the Azov region, and during the day in the southern half of the country, in parts of the central regions and in the Carpathian region. No significant rainfall is expected elsewhere. Winds will be variable, 3–8 m/s, and in the southern regions – northerly, 5–10 m/s. Temperatures are forecast to be +1…+6 °C at night and +9…+14 °C during the day, reaching up to +16 °C in Transcarpathia.
On Wednesday, 25 March, light rain is expected in places in the southern and central regions. In other regions, the day will pass without precipitation. Light fog is possible in places at night and in the early afternoon. The wind will be variable, 3–8 m/s, and in the western part – southerly, 7–12 m/s. Temperatures at night will be +1...+6 °C, and during the day – +10...+15 °C.
On Thursday, 26 March, rainy and overcast weather is expected in the western regions, and during the day also in the far east of the country. No significant precipitation is forecast for other regions. Fog is possible in places at night and in the morning. The wind will be mainly southerly and south-easterly, 5–10 m/s. Night-time temperatures will range from +3 to +8 °C, and daytime temperatures from +12 to +17 °C, but it will be significantly cooler in the far west – +5 to +10 °C.
On Friday, 27 March, rain will affect the western part of the country, whilst in the Carpathians precipitation will mainly take the form of rain and sleet. No significant precipitation is expected elsewhere. The wind will be south-easterly, 5–10 m/s, and gusty in the southern half. In the far west, temperatures are expected to reach only +2…+7 °C over the course of the day. In other regions, temperatures are forecast to be +3…+8 °C at night and +12…+18 °C during the day.
On Saturday, 28 March, due to the influence of a southern cyclone, unsettled weather will spread across the whole country. There will be rain, heavy in the west, and in the Carpathians the rain will mix with sleet. Winds are expected to be easterly and north-easterly, 7–12 m/s, with gusts of 15–20 m/s in some parts of the western regions during the day. Temperatures will be +3…+8 °C at night and +10…+15 °C during the day, and +5…+10 °C in the far west.
On Sunday, 29 March, unsettled and rainy weather will persist in most regions. In the western regions, wet snow is possible in places. On the Left Bank, the wind will be southerly, on the Right Bank – northerly, 7–12 m/s. Overnight temperatures will be +1…+7 °C. During the day, it will be coolest in the west – +2…+7 °C, whilst on the Left Bank and in Crimea temperatures are expected to reach +9…+14 °C.
Thus, the first half of the week in Ukraine will be calm and relatively warm, but towards the weekend the weather will become much more dynamic – with rain, stronger winds and a sharp drop in temperature in the western regions.
