On 29 March, the actor Vladimir Komarov, who was known for many years for his work on *The Mask Show*, passed away. The theatre has reported that the cause of death was heart failure, and the funeral service is scheduled for 1 April in Odessa.

This was announced by the Maski Theatre.

The theatre announced Vladimir Komarov’s death on the evening of 29 March. In a brief statement, he was described as fantastically talented, charismatic and genuine.

The theatre stated that the cause of death was heart failure.

The funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, 1 April, at the Panteleimon Monastery at 66 Panteleimon Street. The exact time of the service will be announced later.

What is known about Volodymyr Komarov

Vladimir Komarov was born in 1964 in the Kirovohrad region. His family later moved to Odesa.

He began practising pantomime whilst still at school. After leaving school, he studied for one semester at the Lomonosov Odessa Institute of Food Industry, and then served for three years as a sailor in the Northern Fleet.

After his service, Komarov spent three years as an actor with the ‘Maski’ pantomime and clown troupe at the Odessa Regional Philharmonic. He subsequently worked for two years at the ‘Sharzh’ Variety Theatre in Kyiv.

In 1989, he returned to the “Maski” studio, where he took part in sketches that made him a household name.

In 2002, Komarov left the "Maski" troupe and, together with Oleksii Agopyan, formed the comedy duo "Odekolon". Three years later, he founded the band "D-r BrMental", which combined songs with comedy sketches.

The band performed for the first time at the jazz carnival in Odessa in 2005. Two years later, the group released their debut album. Their repertoire included rock ’n’ roll and blues tracks.

Volodymyr also appeared in films. In particular, he starred in the films: "Ensign Shmatko, or 'E-moe'", "God’s Smile, or A Purely Odessa Story", "Season of Discoveries", "Ivan Syla" and others.

From the 2010s onwards, the artist led guided tours of Odessa. In addition, he crafted his own smoking pipes.

It is known that Volodymyr Komarov was married three times and had two children – a son and a daughter – as well as a granddaughter.As a reminder, the film director, People’s Artist of Ukraine and corresponding member of the National Academy of Arts, Vilen Novak, has died in Odessa. For over half a century, he worked at the Odessa Film Studio and nurtured new generations of Ukrainian filmmakers.
