Russia is scaling back missile production and focusing on drones — Zelenskyy

Russia is scaling back its missile production and redirecting funds towards increasing drone production. Currently, the enemy deploys up to 500 drones in a single attack against Ukraine. Moscow aims to reach 600–800 UAVs per day.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about this in an interview with the New York Post.

In total, the enemy’s target is 1,000 drones per day. To shoot down such a number of drones, Ukraine needs around 2,000–3,000 interceptors.

According to the president, a single interceptor drone costs $3–5,000. In other words, shooting down one ‘suicide drone’ costs Ukraine approximately $10,000, whereas for Middle Eastern countries it costs $4 million – exactly the price of a Patriot missile. It is precisely this experience that Ukraine is offering to other countries.

“I would very much like the US not to perceive Ukraine as a country that only asks for things. That is not the case. Ukraine defends interests and values,” the president noted. Moreover, Ukraine possesses a complete air defence system, with the exception of anti-ballistic capabilities. And America has excellent anti-ballistic systems. By combining these two forces, it is possible to close the skies over any state under a massive attack and protect not only civilians and military personnel, but also critical infrastructure, Zelenskyy emphasised.

“In the long term, drones have no distance limitations. Today they fly 100 km, tomorrow it will be a thousand, and the day after tomorrow – 10,000. That is why we need to build modern defences. Today, Ukraine is number one in these technologies, and the United States has the most effective, strongest army in the world. If we are talking about an exchange – a genuine exchange of security, security guarantees and expertise – we are open,” added the head of state.
