Russia plans to target the railway and water supply — Zelenskyy
Energy and water supply
Russia is planning to launch attacks this spring not only on the energy sector, but also on logistics and water supply. The President has called on local authorities to work with the Armed Forces of Ukraine to ensure the protection of infrastructure.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“The Russians thought they would break us this winter. To be honest, it was very difficult for us because they were relentlessly attacking us, destroying our heating and power generation capabilities. And although their operation against our energy sector is still ongoing, they are somewhat depleted in terms of the number of missiles and drones,” said Zelenskyy.

According to the president, Russia realises that in the spring and summer, strikes on the energy sector will no longer have such a significant impact.

“Judging by the documents we have received from intelligence, the Russians will target logistics — railways and other infrastructure. They will also target water supply systems,” warned the head of state.

Zelenskyy emphasised that the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with local authorities, must ensure the protection of infrastructure — bridges, dams, hydroelectric power stations and pumping stations.

“The Air Force is already working on strengthening air defence and integrating systems; in some places, additional physical protection is still needed. All regional authorities and communities must be involved in the necessary preparations. In every village and town, heads of local councils and mayors must take charge of this. They must know what is most important there — without which there will be no sewage system or drinking water. Maximum protection is required,” said the president.

It should be recalled that Zelenskyy had previously warned of possible Russian attacks on water supply facilities in early March 2026.
