The Russians launched drone attacks on a nursery and residential buildings in Odessa, leaving 18 people injured
During the night of 30 April, Russian forces launched several waves of intensive attacks using strike drones on Odesa. Residential areas and civilian infrastructure in various parts of the city were hit.
According to the Odesa Regional State Administration, as of this morning, 18 people are known to have been injured, nine of whom have been hospitalised. All are receiving the necessary medical care.
The most damage was recorded in the Primorskyi district. There, a high-rise block and a five-storey residential building were damaged. Large-scale fires broke out on the upper floors and the roof, which rescue workers managed to bring under control.
Private houses and residential buildings in the city centre have also been damaged. As a result of the strikes, flats in a five-storey block and a 17-storey building, a private house and a hotel next to it were on fire.
Social and commercial facilities were hit. A nursery school building suffered significant damage, and a shopping centre, a hotel, administrative premises, warehouses, garages and outbuildings were damaged.
Dozens of buses and cars were destroyed or damaged in several car parks.
In the Khadzhibey district, strikes were recorded on infrastructure facilities, warehouses and a garage cooperative.
According to the Odesa Regional State Administration, most of the enemy targets were destroyed by air defence forces. At the same time, dozens of civilian facilities were damaged by strikes and falling debris.
Fires broke out in some locations. Rescue workers extinguished them.
Specialist services were deployed to deal with the aftermath. According to city authorities, 68 pieces of equipment and over 280 specialists from emergency and municipal services were involved. The State Emergency Service reported the deployment of over 200 rescue workers and 48 pieces of equipment.
Operational headquarters have been set up at the sites of the incidents, where residents of damaged buildings can receive assistance and advice. State Emergency Service psychologists provided support to 36 people, including five children.
