On the morning of Thursday, 7 May 2026, the Russians dropped propaganda material over Sumy using a drone. The Victory Day leaflet features images of soldiers and the St George’s ribbon, which is banned in Ukraine.

This was reported by Kordon.Media. The police subsequently confirmed this information.

“A Russian ‘Gerbera’ drone dropped counterfeit banknotes and leaflets over Sumy today,” the report states.

The publication added that the drone was shot down. The incident took place at around 9:00 am.

The leaflet is dedicated to Victory Day. It depicts soldiers and the St George’s ribbon, which is banned in Ukraine and which the Kremlin has transformed from a symbol of victory over Nazism into a symbol of aggression against Ukraine.

“Our grandfathers were brothers in the trenches. History has divided us. But Victory Day is a memory that cannot be divided,” the text reads.

Fake banknotes bearing the image of Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the inscription “Vov’s thousand” were also dropped over Sumy.
