Russia has attacked nine regions of Ukraine; there are fatalities and dozens of casualties

Over the past 24 hours and during the night of 8 June, Russian forces carried out strikes on a number of regions in Ukraine. The attacks resulted in the deaths of civilians, with dozens of people injured and damage caused to residential buildings, infrastructure and businesses.

Kharkiv Region

At least six strikes by Russian drones were recorded overnight in the Kholodnohirskyi district of Kharkiv. The Kyiv district of the city was also hit. The attack damaged warehouses, railway infrastructure and an unused building.

Separately, it emerged that a Russian drone struck a Ukrposhta hub in Kharkiv. According to the company’s CEO, Ihor Smilianskyi, the facility was partially destroyed, but no staff were injured. Delivery operations in the city have continued, and customers have been promised compensation for destroyed parcels.

According to Oleg Synyegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Kharkiv and 13 other settlements in the region came under attack over the past 24 hours. Five people were injured. Residential buildings, cars, a farm, a hangar, a greenhouse, power lines and other civilian infrastructure were damaged.

Sumy region

In the morning, Russian drones attacked Konotop. A residential area came under fire. Initially, three casualties were reported, but later rescuers recovered the body of a 78-year-old woman from the rubble.

According to the prosecutor’s office, a 75-year-old woman, a 41-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man were hospitalised following the strike on a multi-storey building. An eight-year-old boy was diagnosed with acute stress reaction.

In total, one person was killed and 15 injured in the Sumy region over the past 24 hours as a result of Russian shelling. The communities of Vorozhba, Hlukhiv, Khutir-Mykhailivka and Velyka Pysarivka were also hit. Residential buildings, cars, infrastructure and non-residential premises were damaged.

Zaporizhzhia region

Explosions were heard in Zaporizhzhia overnight during an air raid alert amid the threat of guided aerial bombs being used.

According to the regional military administration, Russian forces carried out 949 strikes on 51 settlements in the region over the past 24 hours. Five people were killed and a further 14 were injured as a result of the attacks on Zaporizhzhia and the Zaporizhzhia district. There were 86 reports of damage to homes, cars and infrastructure.

Dnipropetrovsk region

Russian troops attacked the region around 40 times using drones and artillery. The Nikopol and Synelnykiv districts, as well as Dnipro and Pavlohrad, came under fire.

Four people were injured. In the Nikopol district, fires broke out and residential buildings, a garage, a farm building and cars were damaged. In the Synelnykivskyi district, infrastructure, apartment blocks and private houses were damaged. In Dnipro, transport infrastructure, a café and a residential building were damaged; in Pavlohrad, cars and an office building were damaged.

Odesa region

In the south of the Odesa region, equipment at one of the energy facilities was damaged as a result of a Russian attack. As a result, over a thousand consumers were left without electricity.

In Odesa, a Russian strike hit a public transport stop. Three people were injured, two of whom are in a serious condition. Among the injured is a woman born in 1961, who sustained multiple shrapnel wounds.

The bus stop complex and several minibuses were damaged. In the Odesa district, a private residential building was destroyed and engulfed in flames, and a critical infrastructure facility was also damaged.

Kherson region

Over the past 24 hours, six people have been injured as a result of Russian attacks.

Two high-rise buildings, five private houses, a bank branch, a petrol station, a farm, a gas pipeline, a mobile phone mast and cars were damaged.

Donetsk region

Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops killed one resident of the Donetsk region. The fatality was recorded in Yasnogorka.

Four more people were injured. Three were injured in Oleksievo-Druzhkivka, and one in Toretsk.

Chernihiv region

Russian drones attacked businesses in the Koryukivka and Novhorod-Siverskyi districts. The strikes damaged machinery, lorries, hangars and an administrative building, and caused fires.

In Snovsk, a sawmill and lorries were damaged by a drone attack. A 28-year-old man was injured.

In the village of Zhadove, Semenivska community, the attacks damaged a business, burnt out a lorry, and destroyed around ten pieces of agricultural machinery. A 57-year-old local resident was injured.
