Russia issued a cynical statement following the large-scale attack on Kyiv
This is stated in a report from the Russian Ministry of Defence.
The Russians claim that in Kyiv they struck the radio-electronic industry component and parts manufacturer ‘RADIONICS’ LLC, which produces control systems for the ‘Flamingo’ long-range ground-based cruise missiles, “Fire Point-7, -9” operational-tactical missiles, “Neptune-MD” guided missiles and anti-aircraft guided missiles.
The Russian ministry also claimed that the following were allegedly struck:
- an industrial facility where components for the ‘Lima’ electronic warfare system were manufactured and stored.
- gas distribution stations in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, which support the operations of Ukrainian defence industry enterprises.
- a missile component and parts factory that manufactures and modernises sights for the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ armoured vehicles and UAV components.
- a fuel depot supplying diesel to the Kyiv garrison.
- A transport and logistics centre where UAVs, combat units and their ammunition, as well as components for military equipment, were stored.
At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defence, as is customary, does not report on damaged or destroyed residential buildings, nor on the large number of fatalities and casualties in Kyiv.
The massive attack on Kyiv on 2 July: what is known
On the night of 2 July, Russian forces carried out a massive combined attack on Kyiv using drones and various types of missiles.
As a result of the attack, extensive damage to civilian infrastructure was recorded in seven districts of the capital.
The State Emergency Service has released photographs of the aftermath, documenting the extinguishing of large-scale fires in high-rise residential blocks, the private sector and at storage facilities.
In particular, a three-storey non-residential building – an ambulance substation – caught fire in the Shevchenkivskyi district.
In total, damage and destruction have been recorded at over 30 locations across all districts of Kyiv. There have been significant direct hits on residential buildings. As of 14:00, 17 people are known to have died and nearly 90 have been injured.
