There were 52,500 people in the Kyiv metro during the massive Russian attack on the night of 2 July. Among them were 4,500 children. Metro officials say this is the highest number of people seeking shelter in the metro during a night-time air raid alert in recent years.

As a reminder, nearly two dozen people were killed as a result of the Russian attack on Kyiv on the night of 2 July, and more than 80 people are known to have been injured.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Kyiv was the main target of the Russian strike, during which they deployed 74 missiles and 496 drones of various types. A distinctive feature was the simultaneous use of various types of air-attack weapons from different directions, as well as a large number of ballistic and jet-powered UAVs. Air defence systems intercepted 48 missiles and 476 drones.
