SpaceX has cancelled the 13th test flight of the Starship rocket due to a technical fault during launch preparations at the Starbase site in Texas.

This is according to Bloomberg.

The launch was due to take place at 17:45 local time, but the automated safety system halted the process just before liftoff due to engine failure, after which a scheduled fuel burn began.

Engineers are currently investigating the causes of the incident in order to set a new launch date.

SpaceX, which has already invested over $15 billion in the development of Starship, plans to achieve full reusability of the system by the end of the year using the upgraded V3 rocket.

This spacecraft is critical to fulfilling NASA’s $4 billion contracts to land astronauts on the Moon by 2028, as well as to the development of the Starlink network.

This setback caused the company’s shares to fall by more than 6 per cent on the Blue Ocean platform.

It is worth recalling that American entrepreneur Elon Musk previously stated that SpaceX could generate over $1 trillion in revenue per year by 2030.
