A prosecutor from the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office has filed a claim with the High Anti-Corruption Court seeking a ruling that the assets held by the family of the acting head of the State Space Agency of Ukraine are of unjustified origin. The assets in question are worth over 6.4 million hryvnias.

This was reported by the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

Based on materials from the State Bureau of Investigation and evidence obtained independently, a prosecutor from the SAP filed a claim with the High Anti-Corruption Court seeking the civil forfeiture of assets belonging to the family of the acting head of the State Space Agency of Ukraine.

In the lawsuit, the SAPO seeks to have these assets declared unjustified and to have them forfeited to the state.

The case concerns a 2017 BMW X5 worth 950,000 UAH. Formally, the car is registered in the name of the official’s son; however, according to the evidence gathered, it is used by the official himself.

The case also involves a garden house with a total area of 145.4 square metres and a plot of land measuring 0.0686 hectares on the outskirts of Kyiv.

The value of these assets on the date of acquisition was 2,834,209 UAH. At the same time, according to the SAP, their minimum market value is 5,460,000 UAH.

The prosecutor’s office stated that an analysis of the official’s and his family members’ income and expenditure confirmed that it was impossible to acquire this property using lawful income.

The total value of the assets referred to in the claim exceeds UAH 6.4 million.

At the prosecutor’s request, the court imposed a seizure on the specified property as a precautionary measure.

The SAPO noted that further updates on the outcome of the civil case would be provided.

The SAPO did not name the official in its statement. Meanwhile, Interfax-Ukraine reports that in December 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed Volodymyr Mikheev as acting head of the State Space Agency of Ukraine. This is also confirmed by Government Order No. 1229-r of 10 December 2024: the duties of the head of the SSAU were temporarily assigned to the agency’s deputy head, Volodymyr Mikheev.

The court has already placed a freeze on the assets as a precautionary measure. This is not a final decision on confiscation: the High Anti-Corruption Court has yet to hear the civil case on its merits. The Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office noted that it would provide further updates on the outcome of the proceedings.

As reported by ThePublic, the court has authorised a special investigation into former regional official Ivanyushchenko.
