Mexican boxer Saúl Álvarez has shared his prediction for a potential bout between former world heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. Canelo has said he will be rooting for Joshua and hopes he wins

Alvarez backed Joshua

When asked about a potential fight between the two British boxers, Alvarez made no secret of his preference.

“I hope Anthony Joshua wins. I’m always rooting for AJ,” said the Mexican champion.

According to Canelo, he wants to see Joshua emerge as the winner, although he admits that such a bout would be very exciting for boxing fans.

The fight could take place in the autumn

Meanwhile, Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has announced that a potential bout against Tyson Fury could be organised as early as November. Possible venues under consideration include the UK, the US and Saudi Arabia. The final decision will depend on the organisers and financial partners of the future event. Joshua is currently preparing for his fight against Prenga, which is scheduled for 25 July. Fury fought his last bout in April, securing a victory over Mahmudov by judges’ decision.
