The Security Service of Ukraine has established cybersecurity centres in all regions of Ukraine
This was stated by Volodymyr Karastelov, Head of the Cybersecurity Department of the Security Service of Ukraine, during the Kyiv International Cyber Resilience Forum.
According to him, the new centres focus on the preventive detection of vulnerabilities in critical infrastructure protection systems. Their teams work directly in the regions and must respond quickly to cyber threats and neutralise them.
Karastelov noted that strengthening the SBU's digital capabilities is one of the service's priorities. The relevant task has been set by the SBU leadership to strengthen cyber defence in wartime.
According to the SBU, since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, specialists have neutralised more than 14,000 large-scale cyberattacks and critical cyber incidents. The main targets of the attacks were the information resources of state bodies and enterprises in the energy, transport and defence sectors.
The SBU also reported on the development of software to counter the Pterodo virus, which was used to obtain information from infected devices. According to the service's estimates, about 18,000 devices in Ukraine were infected with this virus.
The SBU noted that it is cooperating with state bodies, critical infrastructure operators and international partners to strengthen cyber resilience and counter cyber threats.
