On the night of 25 March, the Ukrainian Defence Forces struck a vessel at the Vyborg Shipyard. The strike was confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has reported that, during a joint operation in the Leningrad Oblast on the night of 25 March, a Russian naval vessel was struck on the premises of the Vyborg Shipyard.

According to preliminary data, the vessel in question is the Project 23550 patrol icebreaker ‘Purga’, which was intended for use by the Border Guard Service of the FSB of the Russian Federation.

Such vessels combine the functions of an icebreaker and a warship and can perform both patrol and combat missions. The estimated cost of the icebreaker is around $300 million.
