The US State Department officially warned Ukraine after strikes on a Russian oil facility in Novorossiysk, which affected American economic interests.

This was reported by The Public with reference to CNN.

Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Olga Stefanishyna said that the American side had sent Ukraine a diplomatic note, known as a demarche, after Ukrainian drones attacked oil infrastructure in the Black Sea region.

According to her, the US stated that the strikes on Novorossiysk affected American investments related to oil transportation through Kazakhstan and called on Ukraine to refrain from actions that could affect US economic interests.

At the same time, she said that the American side did not call on Ukraine to stop strikes on Russian military or energy infrastructure in general.

According to CNN, in November, Ukrainian drones struck the port of Novorossiysk, damaging oil transportation facilities, including the infrastructure of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium. This led to a decline in oil exports from Kazakhstan. The consortium's shareholders include the American company Chevron.

Stefanyishyna said that Ukraine had taken note of the US position on this issue.
