US uses microwave weapons to capture Maduro
American forces may have used an unknown microwave weapon during the operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. This was reported by the New York Post, citing testimony from Venezuelan military personnel guarding the government quarter in Caracas.
According to the soldiers, just before the assault, all radar systems in the air defence units suddenly failed. After the US drones and helicopters appeared in the air, the military felt the impact of a powerful energy wave that effectively paralysed their ability to resist.
One of the soldiers described severe internal pain, disorientation and a feeling of sharp pressure in his head. According to him, many soldiers suffered nose and internal bleeding, which left them unable to move. The article notes that the attack was not accompanied by traditional explosions or fire contact.
The publication, citing anonymous sources, suggests that this is the first time the Pentagon has used directed energy systems, probably of the microwave type, in combat. Such weapons can neutralise manpower without the use of classical ammunition, which poses serious challenges for armies that do not have protection against such radiation.
Experts remind that the United States has been developing similar technologies for many years. In particular, the well-known ADS Active Denial System, created by Raytheon for the Pentagon, operates at a frequency of 95 gigahertz and affects the upper layer of the skin to a depth of about 0.4 millimetres, causing an instantaneous feeling of severe pain at temperatures up to 50 degrees Celsius. The US also has the PHASER system, which can disable drone electronics and engines, and the THOR mobile system, which is used to protect air bases.
Analysts have drawn parallels between these reports and research into the so-called Havana Syndrome, whose symptoms include headaches, nausea and disorientation. Similar signs, according to the Venezuelan military, were observed after the operation to capture Maduro. There is no official confirmation of the use of such weapons by the Pentagon.
