The US has lifted sanctions on a vessel linked to Alina Kabaeva’s family
The US Department of the Treasury has removed three vessels linked to Russia from its sanctions lists.
This is according to a statement from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
One of the vessels is the dry cargo ship ‘Sv Nikolay’, flying the Russian flag. It had been subject to sanctions due to links with ‘Alfa Bank’. The vessel is now owned by the Russian shipping company ‘Rivers Plus’.
In the past, the vessel was accused of transporting Ukrainian grain from Sevastopol for sale to Turkish companies, as well as metallurgical coke from Donbas to Algeria.
The coke on the dry cargo ship was supplied by Green Rabbit, a company registered in Hong Kong. It exports coal and wheat from the occupied part of Donbas.
This company is run by Muslim Temerkayev, an adviser to Marat Kabayev, the father of Alina Kabayeva.
