Canadian court ordered UIA to pay maximum compensation to victims
The Ontario Court of Appeal dismissed MAU's complaint and ordered the airline to pay full compensation to the families of the victims of Flight PS752 disaster.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine citing the court ruling.

"I dismiss the appeal, recovering court costs from the appellant in favor of the defendants," - the document states.

It is worth noting that according to international law, airlines are liable to pay each passenger up to 180 thousand dollars in compensation for damages if their guilt is proven.

Moreover, the amount of compensation can be increased if the airline is found negligent.

It should be noted that as early as last year, the Ontario court recognized that the airline UIA acted negligently by failing to conduct a proper risk assessment before operating a flight from Tehran.

This decision deprived UIA of the right to limit the compensation amount to victims of the PS752 crash. The Ontario Court of Appeal refused to alter this verdict.

On January 8, 2020, the aircraft of "Ukraine International Airlines" was shot down by Iranian military over Tehran. The crash resulted in 167 passengers and 9 crew members dead, including Ukrainian citizens. It was reported that on April 16, the Iranian court sentenced 10 military personnel in connection with the PS752 crash.
