Former officials who caused the state damage of 2.4 billion hryvnias will be tried
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have completed pre-trial investigation regarding two former officials of the Department of State Procurement and Supply of Material Resources of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, whose actions caused the state damages of over 2.4 billion UAH, reports ThePublic.info citing the DBR. The indictments have been sent to court.
Throughout 2023, the officials concluded 95 contracts with business entities for the supply of lubricants, oil, and distillates for special-purpose equipment totaling over 19 billion UAH.
In violation of the requirements of the Cabinet of Ministers' Resolution and the Tax Code of Ukraine, the value of supplies included the value-added tax of over 2.4 billion UAH without justification. This led to severe consequences for the state in the corresponding amount.
One of the former officials is charged with negligent attitude towards military service (Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The penalty for this article provides for imprisonment for up to 8 years. Another official is charged with official negligence and forgery of official documents (Part 2 of Article 367, Part 4 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The DBR reported the recovery of over 2.2 billion UAH of damages to the Ministry of Defense at the pre-trial stage.
