Switzerland declares a national day of mourning for the victims of the Crans-Montana fire
The Swiss government has declared 9 January a national day of mourning for the victims of the fire in a bar in the Crans-Montana ski resort that occurred on New Year's Eve. This was announced on 4 January by the country's President Guy Parmelein, Swissinfo writes.
According to him, at 14:00, church bells will ring throughout Switzerland and a minute of silence will be declared as a sign of national solidarity. These events will take place simultaneously with the funeral ceremony in Crans-Montana. An official ceremony of remembrance is also planned for the same day with the participation of the President and members of the federal government.
