Telegram will flag users of ‘unofficial’ apps
Telegram is preparing a new warning
A new security warning is set to appear on Telegram: users will be able to see if the person they are chatting with is using an ‘unofficial’ client. The warning will be displayed directly on that user’s profile.

This has been reported by UNIAN.

The introduction of the new feature is indicated by findings in the code of the iOS version of Telegram.

As noted, the system will notify users that the other party is using a third-party client, which may make the conversation less secure.

References to such a warning have also appeared in Telegram’s translation database. The article cites this as indirect confirmation that the feature is being prepared for launch.

However, the exact timing of the feature’s release is currently unknown.

Why is Telegram preparing a new warning?

The article states that development of this message began against the backdrop of discussions regarding security issues in third-party applications.

In particular, attention was drawn to the unofficial Telega client, in which experts discovered the possibility of MITM traffic interception.

It is reported that data could be redirected through the client’s own servers, bypassing the official infrastructure.

Furthermore, Telega was found to use an additional RSA key not present in the messenger’s official clients, as well as lacking secret chats and content filtering.

According to experts, such changes could pose risks to the confidentiality and integrity of correspondence.

As a reminder, a conflict has erupted in the Verkhovna Rada over the reform of the State Customs Service and the ‘reboot’ of the Economic Security Bureau. At the heart of the dispute is the question of whether the competitions that have taken place are a genuine tool for selecting professionals, or merely a facade.
