The command of the Russian Black Sea Fleet may relocate its headquarters from Sevastopol to Novorossiysk
Agents of the ‘ATESH’ movement have reported that the command structures of the Russian Federation’s Black Sea Fleet are considering the option of relocating the remaining command centres from Sevastopol to Novorossiysk.
According to the movement, former bases in occupied Crimea, notably the air force headquarters on Gogol Street in Sevastopol, are gradually becoming inoperable, prompting the command to seek new solutions.
ATESH noted that on 27 May, the Ukrainian Defence Forces struck the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s aviation unit on Gogol Street in Sevastopol. They also claim that strikes on the peninsula have intensified since then, and the logistical situation for Russian troops in Crimea has deteriorated.
According to informants among military personnel, some officers are already dealing with the practicalities of relocation without waiting for official decisions. This involves moving families, selling or removing property, and settling into a new location in Novorossiysk.
The movement also stated that the relocation of command structures is a consequence of systematic pressure on the fleet’s infrastructure in Crimea. They believe that maintaining command structures on the peninsula is becoming increasingly difficult and risky for the occupying forces.
“ATESH” noted that it continues to monitor the movements of Russian military personnel and record changes in the command structure of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
