The director and producer Oleg Pavlyuchenkov has died
This has been reported by OBOZ.UA, citing the National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine.
The cause of the artist’s death has not yet been disclosed. The Union of Cinematographers noted that Pavlyuchenkov was a multifaceted personality who combined creative work with a deep knowledge of philosophy and mathematics. Colleagues and friends remember him as a man of exceptional talent, professionalism and genuine kindness towards others.
Restored dozens of Ukrainian films
One of Oleg Pavlyuchenkov’s most significant contributions to Ukrainian culture was the restoration of the national cinematic heritage. He led an artistic team specialising in film restoration and was involved in the restoration of 46 films from the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Film Studio. In addition, Pavlyuchenkov was a member of the jury for the ‘Watch Ukrainian – Create Your Future!’ project and worked for many years on the development of Ukrainian film and video production. Colleagues emphasise that he carried out a significant part of this work at his own expense.
Colleagues remember the artist as a man in love with art
Violinist Bohdana Pivnenko noted that the director had a keen sense of beauty and was inspired by the ideas of the Renaissance and the Enlightenment. According to her, he was a devoted advocate of pure art and made a significant contribution to the popularisation of contemporary Ukrainian music and theatre. Oleg Pavlyuchenkov also worked on documentary and music projects. Among his best-known works is the documentary ‘A View from a Wheelchair’, dedicated to the social activist and traveller Mykola Podrezan. The cinematographer also took part in the filming of large-scale musical productions and concert programmes.
