The migration situation in Ukraine remains under control, and talk of ‘uncontrolled labour migration’ is an oversimplification and a distortion of the true picture.

Claims regarding an influx of migrant workers into Ukraine are unfounded, according to the State Migration Service.

“Statements circulating in the public sphere about an alleged mass influx of migrant workers from Asian and African countries into Ukraine are not supported by factual evidence,” emphasised Natalia Naumenko, head of the Migration Service.

According to her, the migration situation in Ukraine remains under control, and talk of “uncontrolled labour migration” is a simplification and a distortion of the real picture.

At present, the Migration Service has not recorded any signs of a sharp or systematic increase in the number of foreign migrant workers.

At the same time, the State Migration Service notes that the key factor in current migration processes remains the full-scale war, which has caused a large-scale displacement of Ukrainian citizens abroad.

Earlier, protests took place in Kyiv against the alleged dominance of labour migrants in Ukraine.
