The UK is to transfer the rights to the Stone Cloak electronic warfare system technology to Ukraine
The UK is to transfer the intellectual property rights to the new Stone Cloak electronic warfare system to Ukraine. This was announced by the UK’s Prime Minister, Andy Burnham. According to him, this will enable Ukraine to manufacture the system on an industrial scale.
“Stone Cloak is a British national innovation, tried and tested on the front line. It will play a vital role in ensuring the security of both our countries,” said Andy Burnham.
The Prime Minister also emphasised that the UK will continue to support Ukraine.
“The UK stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine, and our support remains unwavering. Russia should have no doubt about our resolve, and we will not back down until a lasting and just peace is achieved for Ukraine,” he said.
Stone Cloak is a device roughly the same size as a laptop. The UK has previously supplied Ukraine with thousands of such systems to make Ukrainian drones less detectable by Russian air defences.
London also plans to use Stone Cloak in new British long-range weaponry, notably as part of the Brakestop project to develop low-cost cruise missiles.
On Monday, 27 July, Andy Burnham will host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He will be the first foreign leader to be received by the British Prime Minister since taking office.
According to Burnham, this visit is intended to underline the UK’s unwavering support for Ukraine.
During the meeting, Andy Burnham and Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit a naval base where Ukrainian military personnel are undergoing training. There, they will speak with Ukrainian and British military personnel who took part in the Sea Breeze exercises, during which mine clearance and other naval operations were practised in the Black Sea with the participation of representatives from 15 countries.
