Zelenskyy was asked about Fedorov’s return to office: here’s what he said
The President of Ukraine made this statement in an interview with Sky News.
During the conversation, Zelenskyy said that he respects both Fedorov and the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, but emphasised that major military operations do not depend on any one person.
According to the President, the success of operations – in particular strikes on targets within Russia – is the result of the work of many different bodies: intelligence, the special services, military units and the command structure.
When asked by a journalist whether the president might reappoint Fedorov, Zelenskyy did not give a direct answer. At the same time, he made it clear that he does not want internal disputes between officials to influence military decision-making.
The President stated that, during the war, he cannot afford to spend time resolving constant conflicts between different agencies.
“I don’t have time for discussions or negotiations. There’s no time to listen to one side first and then the other, because the two sides aren’t prepared to meet every day. And I don’t need to work out which of them is right and which isn’t,” said Zelenskyy, explaining his position.
According to him, a new approach to mobilisation and new measures are now needed. Unity is required between the General Staff and the Ministry of Defence. It is also important to resolve issues relating to anti-ballistic defence.
Zelenskyy noted that he respects Syrskyi and values Fedorov’s achievements in the field of drones. The President also emphasised that even the most advanced technologies cannot fully replace soldiers on the front line, hinting that drones are far from being the sole deciding factor on the front line.
“If you don’t have soldiers on the front line, you will lose a piece of territory, you will lose a village, and after the village, you will lose a town,” said the Ukrainian president.
