Trump to scrap tariffs on Scotch whisky following the British monarch’s visit
He wrote about this on Truth Social.
King Charles III of Great Britain and Queen Camilla were in the US on an official visit from 27 to 30 April.
‘In honour of the King and Queen of the United Kingdom, who have just left the White House and will soon be returning to their wonderful country, I am lifting tariffs and restrictions on whisky related to Scotland’s ability to cooperate with the state of Kentucky in the production of whisky and bourbon – two very important industries for both Scotland and Kentucky,” he wrote.
Trump noted that “people have wanted this for a long time”, as there has been active trade between the countries.
“The King and Queen inspired me to do what no one else could do, practically without even asking! It is a great honour for me to welcome them both to the US,” added the White House chief.
