Trump linked his statements about Greenland to his failure to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
In a letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, US President Donald Trump linked his statements on Greenland to the fact that he was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing a document that came into the possession of the editorial office.
In his letter, Trump noted that after the decision not to award him the prize for allegedly ending eight wars, he no longer feels obliged to think exclusively about peace, although, according to him, it remains a priority. At the same time, he stressed that he can now focus on actions that he considers beneficial to the United States, adding that the world will not be safe without full US control over Greenland.
The Norwegian Prime Minister emphasised in a comment to Bloomberg that the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by an independent Nobel Committee in Oslo, not the Norwegian government, and that this fact has been explained to the American leader on numerous occasions. The White House has not yet commented on the content of the letter.
