Political statements made on stage at a music awards ceremony prompted a public response from the US president on social media and threats of legal action.

The 2026 Grammy Awards ceremony was memorable not only for the announcement of the winners, but also for the political satire directed at US President Donald Trump. During the show, there were repeated references and jokes about his policies, particularly in the area of immigration.

Many stars appeared at the ceremony wearing ICE OUT badges, openly criticising the activities of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Singer Billie Eilish shouted "F*ck ICE" from the stage during the announcement of the winner in the Song of the Year category, which caused a loud reaction from the audience.

A joke by the ceremony's host, Trevor Noah, attracted particular attention. Congratulating Billie Eilish on her victory, he ironically mentioned the US president:
"This is the Grammy that every artist dreams of. Almost as much as Trump dreams of Greenland. Which makes sense, because Epstein's island is gone — he needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton," Noah said from the stage.

The US president responded to these remarks on his social network Truth Social. In his post, he sharply criticised the ceremony's host and announced his intention to sue him. Trump called Trevor Noah a "lame host" and compared him to TV host Jimmy Kimmel, mentioning the allegedly low ratings of the ceremonies.

Separately, Trump denied allegations that he had been on Jeffrey Epstein's island, calling such statements false and defamatory. He stressed that he had never been to the island and had never faced such accusations before, even in so-called "fake news" reports.
