Third anniversary of the plane crash in Brovary: Ministry of Internal Affairs honours the memory of the victims
Three years have passed since the plane crash in Brovary, Kyiv region, which killed the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (MIA), employees of the department, helicopter crew members and civilians. On the third anniversary of the tragedy, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, together with the leadership of the MIA apparatus and the heads of agencies and departments of the system, honoured the memory of all those who died.
The flower-laying ceremony took place at the Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv, where the leaders and employees of the MIA are buried. Those present honoured the victims of the plane crash with a minute of silence.
The plane crash occurred on 18 January 2023. It claimed the lives of 14 people. On board the helicopter were Ukrainian Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky, his first deputy Yevhen Yenin, State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Yuriy Lubkovych, Deputy Head of the Patronage Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Tetiana Shutyak, Senior Investigator of the Internal Security Department of the National Police of Ukraine (NPU), Mykola Anats'kyi, leading inspector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Communications Department, Mykhailo Pavlushko, head of the NPU's Internal Security Department's Protection Division, and three crew members — Oleksandr Vasylenko, Kostiantyn Kovalenko, and Ivan Kasianov.
Four civilians also died as a result of the tragedy — Olena and Milana Ponomarenko, Marina Granovska and Tetiana Boichenko.
To honour the memory of the victims, the Ministry of Internal Affairs created a series of documentaries and interviews entitled "Flight 54", dedicated to the events and people whose lives were cut short by this disaster.
